Hi, my name is Heather!

I am delighted to be part of The Phonics Fox® team and bring classes to Ashby-de-La-Zouch. I will be introducing new classes into the Ibstock and Loughborough areas in the near future.
I am an experienced Primary School teacher and have spent 15 years teaching in schools. The majority of this time I worked in Reception class and I absolutely love being part of early years teaching.
I have a great passion for teaching early reading and phonics skills, and my teaching experience in early years has showed me the importance of encouraging a real love for reading and enjoyment of books in these early years of a child’s life.
Reading is so important from an early age, making up a fundamental part of language development in early childhood. Reading also plays a crucial role in speech development.
Through The Phonics Fox® classes, I will endeavour to nurture your child’s love of reading. Drawing on the early years principles of learning through play, in my classes I hope to spark your child’s imagination, encourage their creativity and promote good communication skills.

My little boy has been attending Heather's Phonics Fox class for nearly a year and has enjoyed every exciting session! Each class is very well planned and organised to cater for children from 2 years old upwards. There have been a tremendous variety of activities on offer which fit with the sound of the week.

Heather has created a special, warm, nurturing environment which has enabled my child to flourish. His confidence and speech and language skills have shown great progress.
